How to Setup the Connector

Step 1: Login to Datto Autotask

Head to the following URL to log in to Datto.  Click the Login button, then choose Autotask from the list.

Step 2: Use admin credentials

Complete the sign in process using admin level credentials.

Step 3: Account Settings & Users

Hover over the icon in the top left of the landing page to open the page selection menu.  Navigate to Account Settings & Users under the Admin tab.

Step 4: Resources/Users (HR) > Resources/Users

On the admin page, expand the Resources/Users (HR) option then click on Resources/Users.

Step 5: New API User

Expand the + New button to show the option to create a "New API User".  Click on "New API User".

Step 6: Fill out the form

Fill out the New API User form using the information below.  Make sure to save the Tracking Identifier, Username, and Secret for use when configuring the connection in Clarity.

  • First name: Clarity
  • Last name: API Connector
  • Email address: Don't use an email of an existing user; use a unique email address
  • Security Level: API User (System)
  • Primary Internal Location: Select the location of your choosing.
  • API Tracking Identifier: Select Custom and set the Internal Integration Name to Clarity-Integration-Connector. Save the Tracking Identifier.
  • Click the Generate Key & Generate Secret buttons to get your ID & Keys that you'll use in Clarity. Save both the Username & Secret.

Hit Save & Close once you have saved the Tracking Identifier, Username, and Secret.

Step 7: Log in to your Clarity Security tenant

Step 8: Click on Applications, then Marketplace

Step 9: Find Datto Autotask PSA

Scroll or use the search option in the top right, find Datto Autotask PSA, then click Connect.

Step 10: Connect App

Complete the App Settings form.  Details for fields common to all applications can be found in the following article: Common App Configuration Steps.

  • username: Paste the username generated in Step 6.
  • secret: Paste the secret generated in Step 6.
  • api_integration_code: Paste the Tracking Identifier generated in Step 6.

Step 12: User Settings

Complete the User Settings form, check the table at the top to see if any features are unsupported.  Details for each field can be found in the following article: Common App Configuration Steps.

Step 13: Validate Your Selections and Save

Save
Clicking the Save button will trigger the first full sync for your application (even if you selected Manual syncing).  This includes Service Users, Entitlements, Service User Entitlements, Service User Attributes.
