How to Setup the Connector

Step 1: Navigate to the Dropbox App Creation Page

Navigate to the Dropbox App Creation Page (below), and log in if you are not already.

Step 2: Complete the steps for creating an app

Complete the form for app creation using the information below, then click Create app.

  • Choose an API: Scoped Access
  • Access Type: Full Dropbox
  • Name your app: Provide a logical name for your API connection. Ex: "Clarity App Connector"

Step 3: Collect credentials and input redirect URI

After creating the app, you should be brought to the settings page for your new application.  Save the App key and app secret for use in a later step.  Next, you must fill out the Redirect URI field with the following URL (modified to match your clarity tenant).

https://YOUR_TENANT.claritysecurity.io/application/oauthProcessCode/dropbox-business

The end of the above URL, "dropbox-business" corresponds to the default Unique Identifier for your app, which may be different if you plan to set up connections to multiple Dropbox Business environments.

Step 4: Permissions Configuration

Click on the Permissions tab near the top of the settings menu, and enable the following permissions for your app.

  • sharing.read
  • team_info.read
  • team_data.member
  • members.write
  • members.read
  • members.delete
  • groups.write
Note
As you check some of the permission boxes depicted below, additional permissions may be enabled.  This is expected behavior.
account_info.read is a built-in permission that can't be removed.
Not all permissions are depicted below.

Step 5: Log in to your Clarity Security tenant

Step 6: Click on Applications, then Marketplace

Step 7: Find Dropbox Business

Scroll to or search for the Dropbox Business in the Marketplace list, then click Connect.

Step 8: Connect App

Complete the App Settings form.  Details for fields common to all applications can be found in the following article: Common App Configuration Steps.

Once you have filled out the form, click Validate.

  • app_key: Paste the app key collected in Step 3.
  • app_secret: Paste the secret key collected in Step 3.

Step 9: Dropbox Verification

Once you hit the Validate button in the previous step, you will be presented with two approval windows from Dropbox to confirm the access to your Dropbox account.

Step 10: App Settings

Step 11: User Settings

Complete the User Settings form, check the table at the top to see if any features are unsupported.  Details for each field can be found in the following article: Common App Configuration Steps.

Step 12: Validate Your Selections and Save

Save
Clicking the Save button will trigger the first full sync for your application (even if you selected Manual syncing).  This includes Service Users, Entitlements, Service User Entitlements, Service User Attributes.
