This document is meant to provide end users with a guide to requesting new access using Clarity's Self Service feature.
How to request access
1. Log in to Clarity
Login to Clarity with either a local account, or using your organization's Single Sign-on service.
2. Navigate to the Dashboard
If you have just logged in to Clarity, you should be automatically brought to the Dashboard page.
3. Find the New Access widgets
The access request widgets should be located at the top of your Dashboard (see image above)
Note
You may need to click the Show/Hide Self Service button if the widgets are not visible. Some widgets may not be visible based on your access.
4. Click the REQUEST button
Depending on if you are requesting access for yourself or a subordinate, click the corresponding REQUEST button (see image above).
5. Select an Identity
Select an Identity from the Who are you requesting for? list. If you chose New Access for Me in the previous step, then your Identity should be automatically selected (see the image in Step 6 below).
6. Select a Self Service Group
After choosing the Identity, select from the Self Service Groups based on the access you would like to request. These groups were created by your organization's team that manages Clarity. Each Self Service Group should contain one or more entitlements that you can request.
Other Access
There is one pre-made Self Service Group called Other Access. This contains all of the entitlements in your Clarity tenant (across all connected applications), while this does have filtering, you should first look for the access you wish to request in the custom Self Service Groups.
7. Select entitlements from the defined list
Click the Select button next to the entitlement(s) you are requesting. They should turn from Blue text to green text once you have selected a particular entitlement.
Select -> Selected
Entitlement Names
Your Clarity management team may choose to provide a Friendly Name for some entitlements, to make an Entitlement name more clear.
If you see zero Entitlements listed in the group, this could mean:
your Clarity Management team has not finished configuring this group
you already have all the entitlements that are part of this Self Service Group.
8. Provide justification
In the top left of the Access Request interface, you can optionally provide Justification for why you need the access you are requesting (see the image above). This information will be provided to anyone who receives an alert to approve your request.
9. Submit Request as Temporary or Permanent Access
To submit your request and justification, you must click either the Request Temporary Access or Request Permanent Access button. If you choose Request Temporary Access, make sure the expiration date (to the left of the button) is on the correct expiration date for your request.
Note
The default expiration date for temporary access requests is 90 days (starting from the current day).
You can click the calendar icon next to the date to choose another day.
10. Wait for your request to be approved
Depending on how your Clarity management team has configured the workflows, your access may be granted automatically or may depend on an approval process.
You can check on the status of your request or cancel it by clicking the My Outstanding Requests button on your dashboard.
