Act on access requests from your team — approve the ones that should go through.
Who this is for: Managers and admins. Approving requires that the request is waiting on your action. Where it happens: Manage Access → Open Requests (/access-hub/access/open-requests), in the Need My Action view.
If you don’t manage anyone, you won’t have requests to act on and this view won’t apply to you.
Find the requests waiting on you
You have two ways in:
From the Dashboard: click the Needs My Action card — “Requests from your direct reports waiting on your response.” It opens Open Requests already filtered to what needs you.
From Open Requests directly: go to Manage Access → Open Requests, then use the view toggle at the top and choose Need My Action. (The toggle also offers All Requests and My Requests.) You can further narrow with the status filter (All / Pending / Approved / Denied) and the search box.
Each item awaiting your action appears as a card showing the requesting person, the application and entitlement(s), the requested duration, expiration, and the justification they provided.
Approve a single request
Find the request’s card in the Need My Action view.
On the card, click Approve (the green action at the bottom-right of the card).
A small “Approve - Add Reason” panel opens with a text box.
Type your reason/comment. A reason is required — the Approve Access button stays disabled until you enter text.
Click Approve Access.
The card disappears from your action list and you’ll see a success confirmation. The request moves to Approved and the access is provisioned for the requester. Their access duration begins from this approval date.
Approve several requests at once (bulk)
In the Need My Action view, tick the Select checkbox (top-right) on each card you want to approve. A selection bar appears showing “{n} Item(s) selected.”
From the selection bar, click Approve.
In the “Approve - Add Reason” panel, enter a reason (required) and click Approve Access.
All selected requests are approved together and clear from your list.
Use the selection bar’s controls to fine-tune your selection — remove an individual item, or clear the whole selection — before you approve.
What happens next
The request’s status becomes Approved, and the requested entitlements are granted (provisioned) to the requester.
The chosen duration starts now (the approval date). For example, a “30 Days” request approved today expires 30 days from today; a Permanent request doesn’t expire.
The requester can see the result via their Approved Requests Dashboard card and on the Open Requests list.
Your reason/comment is recorded with the decision.
Tips & troubleshooting
The Approve Access button is disabled. You haven’t entered a reason yet — it’s required.
I don’t see a request I expected. Confirm you’re on the Need My Action view (not All Requests or My Requests), and check the status filter isn’t hiding it. Only requests routed to you show under Need My Action.
I approved by mistake. Approval provisions access immediately. To reverse it, remove the access through the normal access-management process (or contact an admin) — there’s no “undo” on the approval itself.
