RingCentral API

RingCentral restricts endpoints to specific Usage Plan Groups for their API:

  • Light Usage Plan Group limited to Read Only

  • Medium Usage Plan Group limited to Provisioning Users and Entitlements

  • Heavy Usage Plan Group required for deprovisioning Users.

Configuring in your Downstream Application

Step 1: Register Application

Login to the RingCentral Developers portal, and Register a new App.

Step 2: Select App Type

Select the option shown for REST API App

Step 3: Configure Auth Settings

Fill out Auth section:

  • Select 3-legged OAuth flow authorization code

    • Select Server-side web app (most common)

  • Copy the OAuth Redirect URI (From Clarity Steps below, Step 4)

    • The URL will look similar to this: https://YOUR_TENANT.claritysecurity.io/application/oauthProcessCode/ring-central

    • Red values above may very per customer.

  • Select Yes for Issue refresh tokens?

Step 4: Configure Security Settings

Select the following Application Scopes:

  • Edit Accounts

  • Read Accounts

  • Role Management

If your scope requite approval, you may need to provide a detailed explanation for your Application Owners.

You should also select private for “Who will be authorized to access your app?”.

Finally, hit Create to complete the App Registration process.

Step 5: Copy Client ID and Client Secret

Copy the Client ID and Client Secret values provided to secure location. You will need these values briefly in the following steps inside the Clarity platform.

Configuring the Integration within Clarity

Step 1: Login to your Clarity Security tenant

Step 2: Click on Applications, then Marketplace

Step 3: Find RingCentral

Scroll to or search for RingCentral in the list of applications from the marketplace, then click Connect.

Step 4: Connect App

Complete the Connect App form.  Details for fields common to all applications can be found at the following article: Common App Configuration Steps

  • OAuth Client ID:

  • OAuth Client Secret:

  • Select which RingCentral API Usage Plan Group you have.

    • Light (Read Only)

    • Medium (Provisioning User and/or Entitlements)

    • Heavy (Deprovisioning)

  • Grab the OAuth Redirect URL for use in the RingCentral Application Configuration in the Developer portal settings (RingCentral Step 3 above)

    • Note: the demo shown below will automatically show the correct value

Step 5: App Settings

Complete the App Settings form.  Details for each field can be found at the following article: Common App Configuration Steps

Step 6: User Settings

Complete the User Settings form.  Details for each field can be found at the following article: Common App Configuration Steps

Step 7: Validate Your Selections and Save

Validate the selections from Configure App Step 3, and hit the Save button.

Save

Clicking the Save button will trigger the first full sync for your application (even if you selected Manual syncing).  This includes Service Users, Entitlements, Service User Entitlements, Service User Attributes.
